The world is ravaged by monsters called Nemeses. These demons fall from the sky and cause complete destruction to everything around them. In their path are Sorcerers that can defeat them. Seth is one such Sorcerer that seeks to destroy every Nemesis. He travels with his friends to destroy the near-mythical source of these monsters – Radiant.

Generic shounen to the fullest despite being based on a French comic, the charms in Radiant are not immediately apparent and require watching further than some anime fans are willing to stick with a series. Those fight scenes are stupid-beautiful, guys. If you are looking for more charming anime recommendations similar to Radiant, then head on down below.

For Fans of Magic Wielders

Black Clover

After being abandoned at the same church, Asta and Yuno grew up together. Together they grew up aiming for the same title – The Wizard King, the strongest wizard in the kingdom. However, it became soon apparent that while Yuno has skill with magic, but Asta couldn’t use it at all. However, this all changed when they were attacked and Asta was given a strange grimoire that granted him skill in magic.

Both of these series are newer shounen series that suffer the same problems. They start off super generic and only get good after new people to the series would have quit watching. Alongside that, they also happen to be about mages, but obviously magic works in different ways.

UQ Holder

It has been years since the world became aware of magic and it has caused a great upheaval. However, Touta lives in a rural village far removed from these troubles. After an encounter with a bounty hunter, it sets Touta out from his village to join a society of immortals called UQ Holder.

UQ Holder, despite having more action than its harem predecessor Negima, is still somewhat a comedy show. While not as focused as Radiant and not as pretty, it still does build an intriguing world of magic.

Fairy Tail

After meeting a powerful fire mage named Natsu Dragneel by chance, celestial mage Lucy Heartfilia discovers he is part of the famous Fairy Tail wizarding guild. Returning home with him, she decides to join, a decision that will take her and Natsu on a series of life-changing adventures.

They are both shounen battle series about mages, that is pretty obvious. However, while Radiant has a dedicated enemy, Fairy Tail has villains instead that have their various villainous plans.

For Fans of Grand Goals

One Piece

With his dying breath, legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger let the world know about his treasure, setting in motion the Grand Age of Pirates. Among the many crews that set out to look for the legendary One Piece treasure is Monkey D. Luffy, a young man that has assembled a rag-tag crew to sail the Grand Line and hunt down One Piece.

One of the charming parts of Radiant is it is very much an adventure tale that takes the characters to a number of interesting places. The same can be said about One Piece, but turned up to eleven considering how long it has been going.

Hunter x Hunter

Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become a world-class Hunter, a skilled individual that perform all manner of dangerous tasks, in order to find out what happened to his father.  However, Gon finds that the path to achieving his goals is more challenging than he could have ever imagined, but in order to overcome it, Gon recruits some powerful friends.

While Hunter x Hunter takes a distinctly darker tone, it starts off in a similar way to Radiant as in the main character sets off on a journey. However, it lacks a clear-cut enemy, but has some equally amazing fights similar to Radiant.

Magi

After spending his life in isolation, Aladdin and his djinn Ugo set off on a journey to see the world. Soon after, he becomes friends with Alibaba, a young merchant that has ambitions of wealth, after he destroys his supply cart. In order to pay of the damages, Alibaba suggests the supremely powerful Aladdin helps him conquer a dungeon full of danger and wealth.

Magi has magic users like Radiant, but their magic use is more grounded and more difficult to wield. Furthermore, while there are some adventure themes in Magi, it is not on the same scale as Radiant. It doesn’t have as many fight scenes either, but what fights it does have are pretty awesome.

For Fans of Impressive Battles

Demon Slayer

After the death of his father, Tanjirou has taken up the role of the man of the home, supporting his mother and five siblings. However, after selling charcoal in town, he returns to tragedy. All his family was brutally slaughtered, save for one of his sisters. Unfortunately, she has been attacked by a demon and mingled their blood, turning her into a demon as well. However, she still shows signs of humanity, thrusting Tanjirou onto a quest to find a way to change his sister back and preserve what is left of his family.

While Demon Slayer is much darker in tone, it has that same sort of battle shounen plot to it where characters are given a set enemy and they seek to kill it. Radiant comes with a set end goal, however. Still, the visuals are gorgeous in both.

My Hero Academia

After the sudden appearance of super powers, or “quirks,” now 80 percent of humanity have these powers. With some Quirk users turning to crime, it gave rise to super heroes that help the police keep the peace. Since he was a child, Izuku Midoriya has idolized super heroes, especially the symbol of peace All Might, but he is devastated to learn that he won’t manifest a Quirk himself. Still, he studies super heroes and is determined to become one. After a chance encounter with All Might, he learns that there still may be a chance for him to get a Quirk after all.

While different with its battles and setting, both anime series comes with a lot of action and often a lot of characters. Unsuspectingly, you also get really nice fluid looking fights as well.

Seraph of the End

After a mysterious virus killed every human over 13 years old, the vampires rose up with a promise to protect the survivors. The only thing they asked in return is donations of blood. For Yuuichirou and Mikaela, they have grown tired of being livestock and pose a daring escape plan. It ultimately fails with only Yuuichirou left alive. However, after joining up with a mercenary company, he swears vengeance on the vampires, no matter the cost.

Similar to Radiant, the main character has a set enemy that they want to wipe off the earth. Eventually a way to do that becomes somewhat more apparent, but not on the same level as Radiant. While there is not quite the same level of action as in Radiant, Seraph of the End does have some epic scenes.
